What We Don't Like About The Buenaventura The hotel is very popular with families, particularly over peak holiday breaks. So be prepared for kids around the pool. If you want to avoid this, consider one of the adult only resorts like the Golden Crown Paradise. While close to the old town area, you'll probably want to take a taxi both to the beach and bars.
What We Do Like About The Buenaventura The Buenaventura was once very popular with gay travellers; however, it started to become neglected and gay guests started staying a hotels in the Zona Romantica. However a complete reno of the hotel a couple of years ago has restored the quality of this resort. It's a nice balance between proximity to the old town and all the benefits of a mainstrean resort in the main hotel zone. Guests also have limited access to the facilities at the even better Villa Premiere. Some tour companies offer the Buenaventura as an all inclusive resort while others offer it without meals and drinks - so it's one of the few hotels in Vallarta where you have that choice. Just be careful when you're comparing prices to make sure both packages you're considering have the same inclusions.
